Kat and Kevin are pretty cool. First off, they met while playing dodge ball and secondly, they let me take their engagement photos. Yes, that is a pretty strict criteria for being cool by my standards. While I was in town for a friends wedding, we decided to meet up at Balboa Park to take their engagement photos. Since an evening shoot was off the table, we met up early in the morning. The benefit of an early shoot at Balboa Park is avoiding the crowds. After starting at the reflecting pool, we made our way up to the 100 year old tree by the Natural History Museum, then crossed the footbridge over to the Desert Garden. For having lived in San Diego for over 20 years I can honestly say I neglected to visit the gem that is the Desert Garden at Balboa Park. Just as we crossed the bridge, the haze burned off and we got some beautiful sunlight with an incredibly dreamy view of the canyon in the background. I wish I could go back and shoot there more often because it’s one of my new favorite places in San Diego.
