When Jessica first reached out to me they were initially going to have their wedding at a different venue all together. As fate would have it their original venue fell through at the last minute leaving them scrambling to find a new venue for a Saturday wedding in October in California’s wine country. A tall order for such short notice. After pushing the date back by a week they were able to move the wedding to the Boatique Winery in Kelseyville and with some scheduling work I was still able to shoot it.
Fall in wine country also happens to be prime wild fire season. On the drive from Sacramento up to the venue there were numerous road closures due to fire. Fortunately the venue was not in the path of any of the fires however at times it looked like it might be. We had perfect weather and I can’t think of many settings that would make for a cooler fall wedding. The vineyards were glowing in the late afternoon light and the reception venue was full of really cool antique boats. It was a one of a kind place.
Special thanks to Matt Rice for coming all the way out from Miami to help second shoot with me. Since I had a wedding the day before in San Diego the risk of problems with my flight the morning of the wedding was pretty stressful but fortunately everything worked out.
